Wolverhampton Wanderers v. Brighton & Hove Albion
Following five straight goalless losses in all competitions, Brighton find themselves right in the thick of the relegation fight. They enter the weekend in 17th place, just two points above the relegation zone with five matches to play. Meanwhile, Wolves have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions as their quest to be the “best of the rest” has hit a bit of a stumble. They have also struggled against Brighton recently, failing to score in each of their last three meetings.
Newcastle United v. Southampton
Newcastle United snapped a 3-match winless streak with a win at Leicester City last Friday. It couldn’t have come at a better time for the Magpies, who enter this weekend in 15th place, 7 points above the relegation zone with 4 matches to play. For the Saints, while they may sit 16th in the table entering the weekend, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are in great form, having won 3 of their last 4 PL matches. Southampton have no time to rest on their laurels though, as they sit just 5 points above the relegation zone with 5 matches remaining.
Cardiff City v. Liverpool
For the second straight season, Liverpool are through to the Champions League Semi-Final after beating Porto on Wednesday. Before their Semi-Final tie against Lionel Messi and Barcelona, Liverpool must get their minds back to the Premier League as they look for their first-ever title in the competition. At the opposite end of the table, Cardiff City are coming off a crucial win at Brighton on Tuesday, with the Bluebirds now sitting just two points from safety with four matches to play. However, they face a Liverpool side that they haven’t beaten in nearly 60 years.
Chelsea v. Burnley
Burnley have won three straight matches and are coming off a massive win over relegation-rivals Cardiff City last weekend. The Clarets now have 39 points and looked poised to secure a fourth straight season in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Chelsea followed up their Premier League loss against Liverpool with a win over Slavia Prague on Thursday to reach the Europa League Semi-Finals.
Manchester United v. Manchester City
In the 178th Manchester Derby, Manchester City take their title challenge to cross-town rivals Manchester United. The Cityzens have just one loss in their last 4 meetings against the Red Devils and will hope for a positive result as they seek a second consecutive Premier League title. For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, the main goal for the rest of the season will be to finish in the top-4. However, the Red Devils will look to have their say on the title race between two of their biggest rivals with a win in this match.
