Dover Preview
The NASCAR playoffs will begin the second round at Dover International Speedway, where Roval victor Chase Elliott enters having won this race a year ago. After an abysmal outing at the Roval in which I slammed the Turn 1 wall much harder than Elliott did, here is my attempt at Predictor app redemption at Dover:
STAGES
First stage (Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Joey Logano, Ryan Newman):
PICK: Logano. Much to prove after a weak first round, and following the chalk means picking playoff drivers.
Second stage (William Byron, Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski, Kyle Larson):
PICK: Larson. He was Steve Letarte’s surprise pick to win during Monday’s NASCAR America.
Third stage (Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr.)
PICK: Harvick. Quietly having his greatest season in a few years, and this place suits his style.
Top 3 Overall:
1. Kevin Harvick: Unfinished business here for Stewart-Haas Racing, which dominated Dover last year without winning.
2. Martin Truex Jr.: Was in another league during his victory in May at the 1-mile oval.
3. Kyle Larson: Has nearly won here a few times and had a very incident-free first round to build momentum.
